The MYMIX MADI AUDIO INTERFACE : 16 allows you to add 16 MADI audio input channels to your myMix devices. The RME ADI-648 ADAT/MADI Format Converter offers conversion from MADI to ADAT and vice-versa. MADI offers 64 channels of 24-bit audio at up to 48 kHz sample rate, and 32 channels at up to 96 kHz. Transmission happens over a single line, either coaxial (BNC) or fiber optic (network). In both cases the cable length can be more than 328' (100m).
The MADI channels are transferred from and to 8 ADAT optical inputs and 8 outputs via TOSLINK. Furthermore, the ADI-648 contains an easy-configurable 8-Channel 16x16 Matrix Router. Any of the outputs, which are divided into 8-Channel blocks, can be fed from any 8-channel input block, both on the ADAT and the MADI side. With this, there is not only free routing within the M-A and the A-M conversion, but also splitting and routing within the same format. An 8-Channel input block can be routed to any number of output blocks in parallel. The ADI-648 is compatible to all forms of increasing the sample rate (double speed). It supplies word clock in single or double speed, distributes 96 kHz signals in Double Wire mode into the MADI data stream, or per Sample Split (S/MUX) to the ADAT ports, but is also capable of double MADI rate (96k frame).
The myMix IEX-16L-A 16-Channel Input Expander comes with two DB25 connectors and allows connection of up to 16 balanced line-level signals that can be fed from devices such as mixing consoles or external microphone pre-amps. The IEX16L-A comes with two 8-channel ADAT inputs that can be activated individually. This allows usage of 16 line level sources or 8 line level sources and 8 ADAT inputs, or 16 ADAT inputs on a single IEX-16L-A expander. Multiple IEX-16L expanders can be used in a myMix network. The IEX-16L-A can be configured using any myMix device on the network or the optional myMix CONTROL software, including input channel naming and stereo linking. The configuration is stored automatically in the IEX-16L-A. The optional myMix CONTROL software allows uploading/downloading of complete settings for the IEX-16L-A expander. The expander can be locked by connecting a myMix to the CONFIG port, or via the myMix CONTROL. The CONFIG ports provide all the data but no audio. It can also be used to connect the myMix CONTROL network interface (myMix PLUG).

The ADI-648 is a sixty-four channel format converter from MADI to ADAT and vice versa. MADI handles sixty-four channels of 24-bit audio at sampling frequencies up to 48kHz and thirty-two channels up to 96kHz. All channels are transferred across a single cable, using either a coaxial (BNC) or optical network cable. The ADAT channels are provided via eight TosLink optical inputs and outputs, respectively.
Amongst other applications, the unit can serve as an MADI front-end for RME's Hammerfall and Hammerfall DSP series. An easy-configurable eight-channel 16x16 Matrix Router can assign any of the outputs, which are divided into eight-channel blocks, to any eight-channel input block, both on the ADAT and the MADI side. In addition to the routing within the MADI/ADAT conversion, the unit also performs splitting and routing within the same format.
When the single-space rack-mount unit is serving as a format converter, cable lengths of more than 100 meters can be achieved. The ADI-642 accepts both fifty-six and sixty-four channel standards as well as 96k frame at its input and can be set to generate both these formats at its output. This way the ADI-648 can serve as an interface between otherwise incompatible MADI devices.
