Behringer HELL-BABE HB01 Wah-Wah Pedal

01-SOU-EFF-006

Ideal for guitarists, bassists, and keyboardists, the BEHRINGER HELLBABE HB01 : WAH-WAH PEDAL offers powerful tone-sculpting options for creating a wide range of wah tones that match your playing style. The HB01 uses an optical sensor instead of a traditional potentiometer, ensuring smooth, noise-free operation and long-term wear-and-tear-free reliability. The unique spring-back pedal mechanism with resistance adjustment is designed to automatically return the pedal to its original (heel-down) position when you lift off your foot, thus bypassing the wah effect and automatically returning the instrument to its natural sound. The HB01's Range control lets you extend the heel-down frequency (440 to 250 Hz) to match the frequency range of bass guitars. The Q Control enables players to adjust the bandwidth of the wah effect from a narrow, focused sound to a wide, sweeping tone. The HB01 includes a boost footswitch that can add up to +15 dB of gain, allowing for more pronounced and powerful wah effects. Built to withstand the rigors of live performance, the HB01 is powered via either a 9V battery or the Behringer PSU-SB AC adapter (both available separately).

Wide Range of Tonal Options

  • The HB01 uses no mechanical pots or switches, which significantly reduces wear and tear.
  • It features a spring-back pedal mechanism with resistance adjustment.
  • Ultrabright LED indicators let you know when the pedal is on and when the volume boost is activated.
  • The HB01’s heel-down Range control provides low-frequency adjustment that can be swept from 440 Hz down to 250 Hz, making the HB01 the ideal companion for either guitar or bass.
  • For custom-tailoring the toe-down frequency range, the HB01 features a Fine control, allowing you to adjust the frequency sweep as high as 2.2 kHz.

Volume Boost and Q Control

  • Dial in a powerful volume Boost (up to +15 dB), so when you step on the HB01, your guitar will rise to the top of the mix.
  • A highly versatile Q control is provided for precise filter shaping and for achieving vocal-like effects.

General Features

  • Control: The pedal uses an optical control system, which eliminates the need for mechanical pots and switches, reducing wear and tear.
  • Activation: The effect is activated by simply stepping on and moving the pedal; there is no on/off footswitch. A timer adjustment control allows you to set how long the effect remains active after you remove your foot.
  • Spring Mechanism: It features a unique spring-back pedal mechanism, with adjustable resistance, which can be removed for a more traditional wah pedal feel.
  • LED Indicators: Dual LEDs at the tail of the pedal indicate when the effect is on and when the boost is active.
  • Circuitry: The pedal uses ultra-low noise circuitry.

Controls and Tone-Shaping

  • Range: The "Range" control adjusts the heel-down frequency, with a range from 440 Hz down to 250 Hz, making it suitable for both guitar and bass.
  • Fine Tune: The "Fine Tune" control extends the toe-down frequency sweep range up to 2.2 kHz for a brighter, more present tone.
  • Q Control: The "Q" control allows for precise filter shaping, from a broad, subtle filter peak to a large, selective peak, enabling a variety of vocal-like effects.
  • Boost: A tunable boost function provides up to +15 dB of gain, which can be activated with a separate switch. The boost is only active when the wah effect is on.

Power and Connectivity

  • Power: Can be powered by a 9V battery (type 6LR61) or an optional Behringer PSU-SB DC power supply.
  • Power Consumption: 30 mA.
  • Input/Output:
    • Input: 1 x 1/4" TS connector with 1 MΩ impedance.
    • Output: 1 x 1/4" TS connector with 1 kΩ impedance.
    • Output/Bypass: 1 x 1/4" TS connector that can be used as a second output or as a hard-wired bypass, also with 1 kΩ impedance.
